So its getting into the season of overdoing it with turkeys, pies, potlucks, and holiday parties. This time of year its definitely hard to avoid overeating.
Well we've all been there, it happens to the best of us, the real problem is usually what happens that next morning,.......two options; we are filled with regret and dreading starting some sort of cleanse, OR, we decide to go for broke and wallow in the damage for another day digging in to whatever leftovers we can find!
Don't worry if you've had a guilty Turkey Day. Wake up tomorrow, reset, and make progress.
Every day is a new day to start over.......
1. ACTION PLAN: DRINK LOADS OF WATER
Last thing you want while carrying a food baby, is taking on a gut full of fluid, but water helps to aid digestion. It will also battle sodium and carb bloating. The water will help flush out any toxins taken in by all those tasty foods.
2. THROW AWAY ALL THE EVIDENCE
If you're like me (a big fan of option 2, wallow for another day haha) the safest thing to do, is throw away all the temptation and leftovers the next morning. Like I mentioned in my last '5 FAST TIPS' don't hold on to any temptation in the kitchen, and you'll be far more likely to be successful on your healthy lifestyle.
3. REFRAME THE MIND
Be kind to yourself, the next day theres a lot of shaming on yourself. If your friend was in the same position, would you point a finger at them and tell them to be ashamed, or tell them to snap out of it, drink some water, walk it off, and get straight back to where they left off!
Draw a line under it, and put your mind to work on something proactive,.....my next two points,
4. PLAN YOUR NEXT HEALTHY MEAL
So we know it's easy to wake up and get to work on the leftovers, but we also don't wanna go to the other extreme, and starve ourselves or eat very little.
Skipping meals can trigger that hunger that leaves us in Chipotle! Like I mentioned before, the body detoxes itself naturally by feeding it water and a good mix of healthy veggies (get them leafy greens into ya)
So get right back to work on eating healthy, and feed your body the nutrients it needs!
5. PLAN YOUR NEXT WORKOUT
While still carrying the food baby, its not advised to jump straight back into a long run, or a tough boxing session. BUT, deffo get out for a walk and some light exercise after 30 mins (its safer for the heart to wait.) This will help aid digestion, and even out the blood sugar.
Get yourself inspired and back on track!..... plan your workouts for the next few days, and remember how great if feels when your fit and strong and not sluggish from over eating! Chase that high!!!
